The pub dates back to around 1600, but was rebuilt in 1841. Originally a coaching inn called the Ferry Boat Inn, it had its own independent brewery untill 1885. Now a Mansfield house, the pub serves good food in comfortable surroundings and provides a lively atmosphere for the evening drinker. Legend has it that the notorious highwayman Dick Turpin frequented the Ferry during the last days of his freedom. |
